A month of Proverbs - 31 March 2026

Ruanne van Zyl

Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, And thy presses shall burst out with new wine.  Proverbs 3:9-10, KJV

When we put God first in everything we have – not just in faith but also in our time, talents, and possessions – he promises provision. This does not mean we give to receive a reward, but simply that we acknowledge that everything we have comes from him.

To honour God means showing respect and gratitude – not just financially, but through our attitude toward life. It demonstrates that we value and trust God’s authority and goodness. When we live this out practically, we reflect our dependence on him and our faith in his provision.

The promise that “your barns will be filled” is not just materialistic; it also refers to spiritual and emotional fulfilment. God’s blessing overflows when we put him first, and we experience peace, joy, and contentment.

This verse invites us to live intentionally in gratitude and dependence on God, teaching us that a righteous attitude always bears fruit. It is a daily practice of trust, devotion, and acknowledgment of God’s mercy.

Prayer: Lord, I put you first in everything I have and do. Fill my life with your blessings, and let me always walk in gratitude and devotion. Amen.
