Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins. Proverbs 10:12, KJV
This scripture shows us how powerful our attitude toward others can be. Hate is like a fire that not only harms others, but also burns our own hearts. When we hold onto resentment, bitterness takes root, affecting every relationship and decision we make. Strife and conflict often arise when people do not forgive or respond with love.
On the other hand, love has an entirely different power. The Bible says love “covers all offenses.” This does not mean ignoring wrongs, but rather, exercising forgiveness, understanding, and compassion. Love can restore relationships and restore peace where there was once tension. When we act with love, we can overcome challenging situations and even completely heal a hurting heart.
Be intentional about choosing love, even when it feels difficult. This means not retaliating against someone who has hurt us but instead, adopting an attitude of forgiveness and grace. Love is not just a feeling; it is a daily choice, an action that promotes peace and reduces conflict.
God calls us to be like him – patient, forgiving, and gentle. When we live this out in practice, we build a life that is healthy and fruitful, becoming instruments of reconciliation in a broken world.
Prayer: Lord, help me to choose love over hate. Guide me to practice forgiveness and foster peace in my relationships, so that your love can work through me. Amen.
